Kutub Khanah building of Maktab Perguruan Sultan Idris or MPSI Library was inaugurated on 10 December 1959 by YB Encik Md Khir bin Johari who at that time was the Minister of Education of Malaysia. An allocation of RM18,000.00 was used to build this building and turned into a Khanah(library) khutub after being moved from a room on the top floor of Suluh Budiman building. The two parts of the building are known as ‘Bilek Dussek’ and ‘Bilik Khir’ which houses reading books and magazines.
The building was initially known as the SITC Training School and converted into the Tanjong Malim National School (SKTM). The SKTM building is made of wood and replicate the design of a British colonial school. The school opened in 1930, headed by a headmaster named Cikgu Lembang. The school became a teaching training school for SITC students before being placed to teach in schools across the country after graduation In 1989, SKTM moved to a new building in Jalan Ketoyong in area of 8 hectars.
