Do you think you got the bad room? Others who have stayed here are full of praise for it, but maybe you got the leftover spare room that they don't keep up to standards? Did you inquire at the front desk or ask the owner what is wrong?
Hello! Thank you for the questions. Yes actually we still have rooms that are not renovated and non-airconditioned rooms which is in the process of being renovated and will be converted to air conditioned rooms. Some of the complaints of noise are occupants of the non air-conditioned rooms since their windows are open, being a non air-conditioned room so they can hear the noise from the outside. We are also in the process of putting shelves on all rooms, bidet and in the near future, will be installing electronic key cards for your protection. Anyhow, before accepting the room, please take the time to check it. Thank you and looking forward to see you in your future travel to Bacolod, Philippines.
In general, Pinoy accommodation is poor unless go to Shangri La or other high end hotel or resto!
When go to low-end inn or pension, you get what you pay for. BUT when a place is run by chinoy, pinoy or Chinese, expect things to be kuripot. As most middle class Pinoy tend to not know good food or what good hotels offer, it is easy to become used to poor situations.
But I applaud staff efforts because they must do battle against cheap greedy owners whose policies are to give as little as possible and charge high rates for their poor facilities. I have pity for service crews here, because they are forced to work for terrible owners!
11th Street is just another example of this common phenomenon!
We stayed in the “NEW WING” 2nd floor. I’ve seen the rooms in the ground floor and theyre as extremely small (like around 10sq.m) as the ones in the 2nd floor. Cleaner said the ones in the MAIN BLDG are a little bigger, can accomodate 2 beds (not sure if double size or queen size but definitely not king).
Actually, had it not been for the extremely terrible sleep quality that I had due to the DILAPIDATED MATTRESS, I would just have let the extremely small size of the room pass. But I woke up physically aching from pain due to the uneven mattress, one side of the bed was DEEPER than the other side. And the ache lingered for like 24 hrs before it went away. That bed/mattress was really bad for my spine and over-all health. I wasnt able to maximize my day due to that terrible sleep quality.
There were no tables or shelves too were we can put stuffs that we dont want to put in the floor.
Prior to our stay at this INN, we were in another “INN/PENSION,” same rate (P900-P1000), same dusty air quality of the room (perhaps from the aircon), dusty sheets, has the same old and dirty showerhead, but at least the mattress of the bed was FIRM yet COMFY it was spacious like around 28sq.m, at least it has lots of table, at least there was a dresser, at least the showerhead was moveable...
I/we werent expecting for anything grand in 11th Street Bed&Breakfast, BUT I was expecting that the MATTRESS of the bed should be DECENT ENOUGH to sleep on.
I'm sorry but I don't know what you mean. I actually got a very nice room when I stayed there. It's my preferred place to stay in Bacolod City. I've tried staying there with friends and also when I was travelling alone. The staff and service was very good. The cab drivers seemed to be very familiar with the place too that's why it's very easy to get there. I'm not expecting a hotel-like accommodation since it's an Inn. A simple, clean, cheap and comfortable accommodation is all I need while travelling.
Everything is relative. This hotel suits Pinoy n not many if not most westerners. So what is acceptable to the average Pinoy is unsuitable to us. In reality the rooms n food is not all that good but if we don't know better we don't know what might be sub-standard in other countries. In general, 'Filipino' food is not Pinoy but a cheap copy of mixed Spanish, American n Chinese food, and what is barely passable in a room in the west is okay in the Phils. Sorry but these truths might sting, and yet is the general opinion of most foreigners who know good from average, mediocre, poor and bad. Most reviewers likely are Filipino and may not know these vital distinctions!
