Thank you so much for your question. You can definitely snorkel with our hotel. We recommend you contact our Tour Desk, so they can give you more information about the different activities you can book with us during your stay. Should you have additional questions, please don't hesitate to let us know.
For SERIOUS snorkeling you need to book an excursion! For just snorkeling around a beach with the kids with no waves to see a few fish, there's a public beach at the Hilton a few blocks away by the Bridge that enters Ashford Avenue, where if you bring your own snorkels (you can buy cheap plastic ones in the Walmart on Ashford Avenue), bring some of your own towels and go snorkeling. Also, there's kyack rentals in the bay that's also across the street from the Hilton near the same bridge.
Not at the Condado Beach ocean near the hotel. There's a public beach a few blocks away at the Hitlon that's calmer waters where you can snorkle, and you can also rent kayaks etc. on the bay side. The water by the hotel you can boogie board, body surf or just jump in the waves. It's usually surf-ups waves for bouncing not swimming. It's still a lot of fun on Condado beach. :)
Best to find excursions for water sports
Yes, like everyone stated you probably would have to book an excursion to the Caribbean side of the island where the water is calmer. The Atlantic waters behind the hotel are much rougher.
Snorkeling would not be good at this location. Very strong undertow, as well rip currents. 2 people were in need of rescue by a Security employee on our third day there after getting caught in a rip current. There are no life guards on duty!
Not in front of the hotel. I think it might be a bit rough, but you'd have to ask the hotel staff. When heading off on a tour, the bus driver pointed out that the beach a few blocks down the path just before the bridge to San Juan is a famous swimming and snorkeling place, insulated from the open ocean with crystal blue waters. It's a neat little area, although not far off the road. I walked past it twice and there were folks swimming and sunbathing.
I agree with Stacey - I don't think this is a place you would snorkel, nor anywhere nearby, I think you would probably try and find an excursion.
