We did the Athens Home-Cooking Classes with Anna - it was a blast! First, we went shopping at a local market store and a farmers market to get all the ingredients, then Anna invited us to her home to cook all the various delicious food. (All the recipes are on her website!) Spiced with stories from her childhood and anecdotes about cooking with her mother and grandmother - this was a wonderful first-hand experience of how to make delicious Greek food on your own. Several of her recipes found their way into our kitchen.

We did this tour on our day of arrival to Athens - perfect choice. Our super friendly and knowledgable tour guide combined an exclusive city tour with stops at very special places where we had the most delicious food. For the following days we knew the places for sight seeing as well as for restaurants! Perfect!

There is good reason Athens Food on Foot consistently gets 5 ☆ reviews. At an easy pace, our tour guide Eva made this food experience interesting and fun. With tidbits of trivia, history, and food knowledge thrown in, we walked the streets of Athens and ate fresh honey, enormous bagels, and scrumptious pastries and ended with a veritable feast.
I would encourage you to take "The Ultimate Food Tour" with Athens Food on Foot. It was around 3.5-4 hours and you get to visit a few different neighbourhoods in and around Monastraki Square (where you begin your tour).
You won't go home hungry, that's for sure!

We had an amazing food tour with “Athens Food on Foot ” with our guide Stavros. We did the Athens Evening Food Tasting tour.
Since it was just my husband and I,it felt more like an evening out with a friend.
All of the stops along the way were quite yummy. I wish I could remember the names! I tried foods that I normally do not eat and was not disappointed.
Our guide Stravros was quite knowledgeable and entertaining.
I highly recommend it. I was too busy eating to take photos other than these few.
Since it was just my husband and I,it felt more like an evening out with a friend.

Highlight of our Athens visit.
We did the Ultimate Food tour with guide and owner Anna who is fantastistic and knowledgeable about the local food scene. Anna has many contacts from the bread, pastry, coffee, fruit & veg & wet markets, sausage, cheeses, before a sit down smorgasbord in a restaurant washed down with local ouzo. All with different people from around the world.
This is local Athens food crammed into 4hours with Anna as an experienced guide to explain. Don't miss the experience.

Our guide had about 6 or 7 small shops/restaurants providing a variety of different foods beginning with rolls of phyllo encasing flavored meats and or veggies and sesame covered bread items looking like pretzels but tasting something like bagels. Nostimo! (Delicious) We also got to sample many other authentic Greek foods in a tasting dinner near the end. Also visited a mastiha shop - one has to try the mastiha liqueur!!!!

We actually did a private food tour as it was our first night in Athens after a 25+ hr flight. We met Stavros and started our tour... we were so tired but soon enough we were listening to his every word and exploring the back streets of Athens. We loved all the little places he took us too. a wonderful experience. and I loved that we did it our first night... when we finish our visit to Greece, I took some of the friends we met to some of the places Stavros took us too. We really enjoyed this tour and would recommend to do it at the beginning of your holiday!

This was a fantastic way to experience authentic Athens. Our guide, Eva, was so kind & sweet to our 2yro daughter, and even got her some presents before we left. Thanks for a memorable time together!

What a great experience! Our group of four ended up being the only ones on this tour, and we became fast friends with our guide, Eva. She was amazing, especially in accommodating one of our party who was still feeling queasy from the flight (we did the tour the afternoon we arrived). We enjoyed all the little local restaurants we visited and trying out local foods. After our tour, Eva stayed with us and walked us right up to the Acropolis ticket booth. She really went above and beyond for us, and made the whole tour one of our favorite things of our trip.

Eva was our tour guide and she was incredible! When we met up with her we learned that we were the only 2 in the tour and yet she did not cancel us despite the reservation indicating that it might be canceled if there weren't enough participants. We were so grateful that she didn't cancel our tour!
She showed us the most incredible afternoon filled with discussions surrounding food, culture, history, philosophy, mythology, science and art. This was so much more than we expected! We took time to chat and relax at each stop to discuss the Greek food and people and how it food is so much more than simple nourishment. It is the tie that binds! For us, it was an afternoon of learning and deep appreciation.
She also took us to some local vendors to sample some products and we ended with an amazing meal!
We did the tour on our first day in Athens which was perfect, because the walk around the city really helped us to cover enough ground to feel comfortable as we navigated the rest of our 4 days. We remembered where we'd been and could tie everything we would try to find to a previous stop or path on the tour so we were already familiar!! Eva even shared a few suggestions for our dinners/treats over the rest of our time in Athens.
Overall a fabulous experience and one we will talk about for a long time. I feel like we made a friend while we were on the tour! What an incredible experience.
