We are North Star Adventure, based in the Lake District. We are a local company with expert knowledge and specialise in ghyll-scrambling and canyoning. We also offer canoeing, climbing and wild camping. Come and jump, splash and slide your way down secret mountain waterfalls and plunge pools.

We enjoyed a thrilling and beautiful adventure down the spey. Exciting canoeing, beautiful campsites and splendid food and drink. Mark excelled at hospitality and our river guide Pete worked dawn to dusk to keep us safe. Both of them knew the river intimately and made the trip very special. Top marks.

My Wife and I were lucky enough to get the last two spots on the River Spey canoe journey in early October.
It's a fantastic experience to journey through the Scottish wilds from Aviemore to Spey Bay taking all of your kit with you loaded in canoes, feels like a true adventure.
Pete was our River Guide, there to keep us safe and offer advice to improve our skills. He was also a brilliant guy to chat to around the fire.
Tom looked after us on the river and whipped up amazing food every night in camp from our supplies. He had loads of stories from his own adventures to keep us entertained.
This is the kind of trip where we pitched in each morning and evening to set up camp, get the kettle on over the fire and collect wood. Then sat back and enjoyed the evenings craic, plus a drop of whiskey! With a day canoeing and camp building you definitely feel like you've earned it!
We left after five days feeling stoked with the experience, and a little sad leaving the group we'd got to know as friends.

Tom maakte van deze eerste ervaring met Ghyll-scrambling een topervaring. We hadden eigenlijk een canyoning verwacht, maar dit was zeker OK. Absolute aanrader. We hadden het gevoel de juiste keuze gemaakt te hebben, zeker toen we de andere groepen bezig zagen. TOP!

Tom and North Star Adventure could not have been more accommodating. After agreeing to take us on a big Esk Valley tour, the weather intervened and we were forced to rethink. Tom was very keen to make sure we still had the big adventure we were looking for, but within the bounds of what was safe and what was possible after SO much rainfall… thank you Tom and North Star Adventure !

First time gyhll scrambling and just after a heavy night of rain. Our guide Matt was absolutely fab and made us all feel ultra safe despite the higher than normal water.
Kids 11,13 and 19'all loved it ... as well as me !!

Had such a fun time doing the ghyll-scrambling. Tom, our instructor, was great. He was a big factor in making the experience that much better with his enthusiastic and funny character. My sisters and I had a brilliant time and would definitely recommend this activity to others.

Myself and sisters did the Ghyll-scrambling and had the time of our lives! Could not recommend North Star Adventure enough! Our instructor was Tom and he was amazing at leading the trip, easing any nerves we had on route, keeping us in safe hands and encouraging us to get stuck in to the beauty of Cumbria. He took photos and videos round the route and we had many laughs along the way too. Amazing memorable trip that we will be sure to do again one day!

I the Stoneycroft Ghyll Scramble Extreme with my kids (15 & 13) guided by Tom. We had a brilliant time! Everything from the equipment to the guiding was first class. The kids were well catered for and encouraged at every point to make the most of it, with plenty of ad-hoc challenges. I’ve done loads of outdoor activities but never this and didn’t think it would be that exciting. I was wrong, it was brilliant and great value for money compared to many other family adventures in the Lakes. The abseiling “extreme” was well worth it and made for a more complete activity. Highly recommended.

Brilliant morning Ghyll Scrambling with North Star Adventure! Highly recommend. Tom the instructor was fab and such a good laugh! We all smiled from start to finish. Definitely looking to book another trip with them soon! Outstanding!
