I booked two reservations for the Las Vegas Lights Night Tour several weeks before hitting the strip in May 2016. I should also mention that I had taken this same tour a couple of years ago through Vegas.com and found it lots of fun. Not so this time around. The confirmation sent to me by Vegas.com stated the pick-up point was the Bally's north lot at 7:30 and to be there about 20 minutes in advance - just like my first experience on this tour. My brother and I showed up just after 7 pm and waited patiently, inhaling the exhaust fumes from the tour buses, limos and cabs that came and went from that spot At 7:30, there was nobody from the tour company rounding us up. Clearly, something was out of whack. I tried to get the attention of a driver from one black, unmarked bus that rolled up since he might have been our tour connection. But the Mexican-speaking driver mumbled incoherently then he went into Bally's - probably to use the washroom. At 7:45, I asked the Bally's concierge to call the company to find out what was going on with our tour. Was it cancelled? They were put on hold. In the meantime, another Bally's concierge went to the north lot and found the driver and tour guide waiting in their unmarked van. Yes, it was the very same driver I had approached 15 minute earlier. Neither the driver nor the tour guide bothered to let our group know they were parked there for almost 30 minutes. We were not happy campers. The guide told us he didn't know how many people he was picking up that night, and that he was only a "contractor". When I showed him my Vegas.com confirmation for the 7:30 pick-up, he said his pick-up time was for 8 pm, not 7:30. He then proceeded to stare at my paperwork blankly, as if it were written in a foreign language. Not so much as an I'm sorry from the guy. A group of six more people, also angry over the lack of communication and delay, got on board. That was only the start of our three hour tour. The bottled water - the only "refreshment" available was warm as an armpit. When a female passenger got up from her seat to get a water and the bus started moving, the guide chastised her and did not even bother to get the bottle of water for her. Our first stop was the famous Las Vegas sign. Once we parked, the tour guide, who clearly had trouble getting on and off the bus himself let alone walking, pointed to the sign and told us we had 10 minutes to take pictures before the bus would be moving on. Two years earlier, our wonderful tour guide had actually walked us to the sign and offered to snap photos of us. He even gave us pointers on how to set cameras so the Vegas sign would show up in the night photos. Not this crew. Back onto the bus, and we headed to the Mirage for the erupting volcano show. On the way, the van driver made wrong turns and screwed up where we parked. The volcano erupted on cue, and we trudged back onto the bus for the trip downtown. The guide's banter was superficial at best, no humor, just the facts ma'am. Seemed he didn't want to be there any more than we wanted him there. Once we arrived at the Golden Nugget, the guide led us around the aquarium style swimming pool then, thankfully, set us free for 50 minutes of strolling on freaky Freemont Street. After that, we piled back on the bus for the ride back to Ballys listening to the guide drone on about LV's corrupt Mayor. We were happy to get off that bus and I dare say nobody tipped that guide or the driver. I know we didn't. We do not recommend the Las Vegas Lights Night Bus Tour offered through Vegas.com. Interestingly, when I tried to post this review on that website, it was rejected for containing "inappropriate language". Truth hurts, hunh?…
