The place is not in Szentendre (which is a city in Hungary), but on the Szentendrei Island (which is an island) on the Danube, on the island there are a few villages, one of them is Horány, and this is where the hotel is. Horány can be reached by car or train from Budapest, the distance is about 40 kms. The island can be reached on a bridge or also by ferry from Dunakeszi. The hotel is very close to the ferry station (but far from the bridge). We went for a 3-day training seminar. I think the building used to be some company holiday resort in the 1950s-60s, or at lesat it looks like one. The (main) building and the design, the furniture and even the staff looks a bit old or old-fashioned. Rooms are simple, we were 3 so we chose a room with 3 beds and a bathroom w shower. There was an old TV in the room, no fridge, no WiFi, no minibar. Also bigger rooms are available for families or groups of kids with 5 beds or bunk beds. Sheets were old but clean. The hotel has another, separate, smaller building in the garden, I didn't see that. Also, mosquitos are everywhere. Warning: hot water is only available at fixed hours, 7-9 am and 7-9 pm as i remember. On the other parts of the day you can only shower with cold. There is a small bar at the lobby where you can buy beer, coffee, icecream. Breakfast is included in the room price. There is no a la carte restaurant, but they offer lunch and dinner (simple dishes, usually fried chicken or pork and cooked rice or potato) if pre-ordered at booking. Price was 4 euros for each meal. The hotel mainly specializes in groups, they have 2 big halls which can be used for gymnastics as well, so the place often hosts school trips, yoga training courses and weddings. But it is available for single travellers as well. So no constant hot water, no restaurant, old furniture. The advantages of the place are 1. the price (4300 HUF = 15 Euros for a night with breakfst), and 2. the location: it is next to the Danube, the hotel has its own part of the riverside, with grass to sunbath on, and a terrace where you can eat your breakfast while facing the river. It was one of the most peaceful places I ever been to. Canoes can be rented at the hotel (I don't remember the price), some people from our group went canoeing on the river at dawn and they loved it. Overall, it is an interesting place, very different from the average hotel, some might hate it and others love. If you are not afraid of mosquitoes, a bit rural circumstances, and the occasional children groups, but long for a peaceful croissant for breakfast in the sunshine next to a slow river, then it is a very nice getaway.…
